Reishi tea

Reishi mushroom tea is one of the best ways to boost your immunity and increase body vitality. The benefits of this tea come from water-soluble polysaccharides known as beta-glucans which stimulate the immune system.

Dried Reishi mushrooms are very tough and difficult to cut. When buying dried Reishi fruit bodies, look for the ones that are already cut in smaller pieces.

In order to extract the beta glucans from the tough fruit body, we must make a hot water extract. 

Ingredients

  • 3-5 grams dried Reishi mushrooms
  • 1-1.5 liter water

Instructions

  • Bring the water to a boil in a stainless steel or ceramic pot.
  • dd the dried Reishi pieces and reduce the heat until the mixture is simmering. Let it simmer for 1-2 hours.
  • Remove from the heat and strain. You can reuse the strained pieces and repeat the process until the extracted tea is no longer bitter or colored.

The longer you boil it, the tea becomes more bitter. This is because by cooking it longer, more polysaccharides are being extracted. 

If you want to mask the bitterness of the tea, try adding honey, ginger or juice according to your own taste. 

You can keep this tea in the refrigerator for a couple of days and drink it cold or hot. 

Do not take this tea if you are on blood-thinning medications, if it causes you stomach irritations or any kind of allergic reactions.
